Jamf Connect streamlines password syncing on Rowan-managed Macs by allowing the use of a standard macOS local account rather than a network account. Jamf Connect also includes a new menu bar application that shows you how many days you have until your password expires and provides links to frequently used services. Information Resources & Technology will be deploying Jamf Connect to Rowan-managed Macs in the coming months.
Jamf Connect Login Screen
Once your Rowan-managed Mac is enrolled in Jamf Connect, you will see new login screens after taking the "Log Out" action. The behavior if you reboot your machine or lock your screen will not change once your enroll in Jamf Connect.
After logging out, you will be prompted with the below Microsoft login screen.
If this is your first time logging in to the Mac and don't see the Microsoft login page, click Azure login, and you will be redirected to a Microsoft login page to sign in for the first time.
Jamf Connect Menu Bar Application
Jamf Connect includes a menu bar application that runs in the top right system tray. It checks your password against the password stored by Rowan every 15 minutes to ensure your password is in sync. If it detects it to be out of sync, it will prompt you to sign in using your current password and old password.
There are several other features of the menu bar application:
- Shows how many days are left until your password expires (expiration updated on VPN or on-campus only)
- Provides links to frequently used services, such as macOS Self Service, Rowan Support Portal, and network drives (VPN or on-campus only)
- Gives information, including IP address and hostname, for troubleshooting purposes
How do I sign in for the first time on a new computer?
Signing in for the first time on a new computer requires internet connectivity
- If you do not see the Microsoft login page, click Azure login
- Enter your Rowan University email address on the Microsoft sign-in page, and follow the steps to set up your account

How do I update my password with Jamf Connect?
- Change your password via netid.rowan.edu.
- If you are logged in to your Mac, Jamf Connect should prompt you within 15 minutes to re-sign in. Once you sign in with your new password it will ask you to sign in with your old password to sync keychains.
- Once this is done all passwords should be synced and your keychain should be updated and the process is complete
Note: You may still have to update your password for applications such as Microsoft Outlook
What if I forgot my old password after changing it?
The recommended resolution is to contact the Technology Support Center and request your FileVault encryption key, which will let you reset the local password. Once your have your FileVault Encryption key:
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu
> Restart, or press the Power button on your computer and then click Restart.
- Click your user account, click the question mark in the password field, then click the arrow
next to "reset it using your recovery key."
- Enter the recovery key, then click Next.
- Follow the instructions to reset your login password.
